Arts Work With People - research into and development of protocols for securing informed choice and adequate evaluation strategies for people with learning disabilities accessing the arts

In February 2003 a researcher was recruited to map existing and alternative infrastructures that can enable people with learning disabilities to access artwork, focused on identifying examples of excellence. The purpose of the research was to identify models of best practice so that these can be shared. The project has been through a successful first stage of mapping activity and prepared a detailed questionnaire that will be shared with professionals who are linked into the network of arts practice and disability. A new phase of Action Research is proposed whereby consultation takes place directly with people with learning disabilities who are accessing or would like to access arts networks.
