Kate Houghton - Core Documenter Photography/ Sculptor

Kate gained a BA Hons degree in Fine Art at Nottingham Trent Polytechnic, and a MFA in sculpture at Reading University. Kate was also awarded the Boise travelling scholarship from the Slade school of Art to work in the USA. Kate returned to Nottingham, to form an artist run shared studio space 'Nottingham Artists Group'. During the 1990's the opportunity arose to collaborate with dancers and musicians, which lead to several performances where sculptural elements were integrated into the choreography. Photography, initially used to document these performances became of interest as a medium in its own right. Recent assignments with Salamanda Tandem have allowed for further development and exploration of dance photography leading to exhibition.
