As illustrated by the work of Eye Contact - the dance company that was eventually established in 1990 to develop further work with touch-based movement - the company seeks both to develop imaginative ways of approaching each person's abilities and to avoid practices and ideas which are likely to be inhibiting and dis-abling for particular individuals. In creating collaboratively together, people necessarily invent ways of working with one another which are based on respect for difference; in performing to others what they create, they invite a wider public to share that respect and discover for themselves new meanings for the notion of ability.
